How iiCaptain works

The team app for coaches, team managers and players in amateur sport. No more scrolling through the group chat the night before the match.

Saturday morning, nine o’clock. Half your team still hasn’t replied in the group chat, and by tonight you want to know who’s playing tomorrow. That’s the moment iiCaptain is for.

With iiCaptain, a coach’s weekly routine comes down to three steps: seeing who’s coming, getting the training ready and setting the lineup. Around that, the app handles the team work that now often lives in separate apps and spreadsheets.

Who’s coming?

Every match, training, refereeing duty and team event is in one schedule. Players say with one tap whether they’re coming. The staff see straight away how many players there are and who hasn’t answered yet.

Anyone who doesn’t answer gets one automatic reminder the day before. So no more chasing people. If someone is away for longer, injured or on holiday, that player only has to say so once. With a calendar link, the schedule also shows up in the calendar on your own phone.

Training and lineup

You draw drills on your phone and they go into your own drill library. You put a training together from what worked last time, and your team can look at the drawings beforehand.

Before the match you drag the available players into your formation, pick the substitutes and share the plan with the squad.

The rest of the team work

Besides the schedule, training and lineup, this is in there too:

  • team posts with polls and reactions, and one-to-one chat with teammates;
  • sharing out the tasks per match and arranging carpools to away games;
  • a team kitty that keeps track of who paid what;
  • match statistics per season;
  • for Dutch field hockey teams: the fixtures, results and league table straight from Hockey.nl.

Coach more than one team? Then they’re all in one account and you switch with one tap. iiCaptain works in English, Dutch and German. There are no ads, and iiCaptain never handles your team’s money.

Free and Premium

The free plan is enough to keep a team’s week running: unlimited team members, multiple teams, matches, trainings and events, attendance and the automatic reminders. The free plan never expires.

Premium adds the coach’s and the organiser’s side: drills, lineups and tactics, team posts, tasks, carpools, statistics and the Hockey.nl import. It costs €5.99 a month or €49 a year, for the whole team. A team that has never had Premium can try it free for 30 days first.

Where to find it

iiCaptain already works in the browser at iicaptain.app, and you can add it to your phone’s home screen. The iPhone and Android apps are coming soon. For team members it takes a few taps: giving their availability and checking the schedule.
